Whitstable Harbour Village is also the centre of operations for specialisd bespoke furniture, hand made from reclaimed beach timber. The beach timber is used in breakwaters or "groynes" constructed to protect the coastal zone from flooding. When these structures are replaced every 50 years or so, the old timbers are reclaimed and turned into beautiful and unique items of furniture by local furniture makers. A few pieces are usually on display in the gallery but we are happy to discuss any special item and you are welcome to choose the timber you would like us to use. Every piece has been weathered by years of gales and storms along this part of English coastline, giving it a unique character.
Prices are in the region of £200 for a bench, £400 for a coffee table up to about £1500 for an individually designed dining table.
